Cricket ad is special for me….
My boy is all of twelve and well exposed to all my work and conversations on women’s rights. He has heard the word RIGHTS from a very tender age. He seems to know his too. Most insulted if in anger I call him “stupid”. It hurts his whole being – “I may have done a stupid thing but I am not stupid”. This has been my most valuable lesson. You have to first build self respect and then respect for others will follow. And this self respect should not stem from a self image of an inverted sense of machoism. You can only prove your manhood if you can take pain, score with girls and subscribe to the so called initiation rituals. This is why the CRICKET Ad is very special to me. I see my baby there and if he can do what they are doing he will make me most proud. All the parenting tips I have read, heard solicited or un solicited revolve around “make the kid confident, competitive and a go getter”. If you’re reading this and share my life position please add “self respect” when raising kids. NO SELF RESPECTING PERSON CAN STAND SILENTLY WHEN SOMEONE, ANY ONE IS BEING ABUSED. Bell bajao!!!
