March 19, 2009adminblog0

A child bride at the age of 12, Khusboon Khatoon is adding her voice to the scores of women fighting domestic violence. Khusboon was widowed at an early age, and in the tradition of the village, widows are usually not permitted to participate in community activities. After proving her resilience and strength to her community, she was elected as a Ward Member in her panchayat.

After her election, Khusboon participated in The Hunger Project’s Women’s Leadership Workshop and learned that she had the capacity to be a change agent in her community. Since then, she has worked to fight issues such as domestic violence.
