In the News: IIM-A to study domestic violence
The Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad (IIM-A) announced that its curriculum is going to include an introduction to and study of socio-cultural issues through a mandatory course, "Socio-Cultural Environment of Business" to sensitive future business leaders and perhaps get their eyes off "showing them the money", reports the Indian Express.
It is also interesting that a New York Times article this week also begged the question, "Is It Time to Retrain Business Schools?" given the recent financial chaos and crisis that has affected a great deal of the globe. What should change in b-school education? It seems to be the trend that business schools are moving to a more holistic approach that do not only focus on the bottom line. Time will tell if the changes in curriculum are producing more socially-conscious ethical graduates.
