In the News: Technology and Domestic Violence

March 20, 2009adminblog0

In the United States, technology and online resources are drastically assisting in domestic violence cases in a number of ways.

This week, the state of West Virginia will launch a domestic violence registry, which "is a tool used to communicate domestic violence protective orders to law enforcement. It will enhance the enforcement of those protective orders by providing officers the most up-to-date information on a court’s actions."

Similar initiatives can be found in other states through the use of online guides for domestic violence restraining orders, posting information on how victims of violence can seek assistance, access to online court forms and additional information about shelters and lawyers.
