Time to break through
Time to break through
The hours tick away, soon it will be night
Frightened, cowering behind the door, she awaits her plight
Swaying in a stupor, he comes swearing in
His hands itch to hit her, make wounds on her skin
He draws her near and strikes without an ounce of remorse
She accepts each blow as if it were a matter of course
He has broken her wings, shattered her confidence
But she still clings to him, defends his acts of violence
Of her broken arm, she says she slipped on the floor
The black eye she got when she banged against the door
Bound to the shackles of misery, year after year
She lives in a world full of agony and fear
What about my children, what will the world say?
These questions tie her to a monster, come what may
Caught in a web of traditions and customs that defeat
She is not ready to step out and stand on her feet
When will she realize that a woman can have her own identity?
When will she stop suffering in silence, when will she be free?
Say no to domestic violence!
